Art, Life, and Everything In Between

Hi, I'm Paty, an artist born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. Art has been part of my life since I was very young, growing right alongside my love for nature and the small, beautiful moments that fill everyday life.

Over the years, I've worked with oil, acrylic, encaustics, and mixed media, but oil and acrylic remain my favorites, they let me capture nature's light and color in a way that feels true to how I see the world. I've studied art in both Mexico and the USA, and I've loved the chance to connect with artists from so many different countries along the way.

Part of my journey took me to the Evanston Art Center, where I explored acrylics and abstract painting, learning to be more adventurous with a blank canvas. I also volunteered at the Open Studio Project in Evanston, where I discovered the power of art as therapy, learning to express myself and bring real meaning and intention into every piece I create.

When Covid hit in 2020, I reconnected with one of my beloved art teachers back in Mexico, Magdalena Dillon, taking Zoom lessons to explore realism. Rediscovering a passion I'd tucked away in a drawer for years gave me something to hold onto, and it helped carry me through those uncertain times.

Every Christmas, I love creating a limited number of hand-painted Christmas ornaments. These small, personal pieces mean a lot to the people who collect them.

Art has truly changed my life. It's taught me to slow down, pay attention, and find beauty in the little things.

Beyond the canvas, I'm a wife, a mother, and a friend. I spent 10 years as an elementary school teacher before fully embracing art. These days, you'll find me enjoying good music, a good book, a good cup of coffee, or a nature walk with my husband and our dog Benji.
